Plan for Revision

 I received some great feedback from our in-class peer review exercise. My rough draft is nearly entirely complete, so I think my approach will be to consider the comments I received from the peer review, complete the drafting of my paper, and continue to work on it a little bit each day. I will also ask for feedback from Dr. Bacabac if I feel like I need more assistance.

    I came here to your plan for revision before I wrote mine, essentially to make sure I was doing mine right. I am a little bit jealous that you accidentally wrote your entire rough draft out, now that you are well ahead of the class. I also appreciate your comments on my rough draft. Overall, I am learning that I need to specify quite a few things in preparation for the final draft. Keep up the great work Dylan.

Research Gap

 My topic is an analysis of the influence that culture has on online travel blogs. The majority of my research highlighted rhetoric within travel blog posts, structure of blog posts, and credibility of information contained with blog post content. I did not find a lot of information about how blog topics relate to major cultural events such as presidential elections, nationwide disasters/catastrophes, significant holidays or events, etc. So, a potential research gap that would be interesting to address is the correlation between significant events and dates in US history and the content published on travel blogs on or around those dates. I would approach this research by identifying popular travel blogs and examining posts published on or around selected dates of cultural significance.

Blog 5 Questions

 1. I've learned that crafting an effective research study takes time. The most important part of the study, in my opinion, is the literature review because it is the foundation upon which your own research will be conducted. I also think that having a solid knowledge and understanding of the topic you are researching is helpful because it grants you the freedom to craft a study that seeks to find answers to the best questions within the lens of your research. 2. This project has taught me that it is important to be well-rounded as a professional and technical communicator. For example, we learned about things in this class that I would not have thought it necessary to know, such as finding and interpreting data, working with human subjects, and the different types of research methods and methodology.

Topics of Interest

 There are two topics that I am interested in exploring: 1. How the emergence of generative AI has impacted professional writers and the industries they work in 2. The history of travel writing as it relates to the preservation and advancement of cultures, languages, people, and history Generative AI is a hot topic at the moment. Everyone is interested to see how large language models and related technology advance and what implications these implications said advancements have on professional sectors. Travel writing, including travel literature written in various styles, has existed from as early as the first century CE. It has played a critical role in the preservation of important information throughout history. Having already conducted light preliminary research on both topics, I've been pleased to find interesting perspectives and research relating to each. I look forward to identifying which topic I want to pursue and narrowing my focus within the selected topic.
